Over my ten + years working as an herbalist, many of my clients have been radicals, activists and organizers.occupy on a bus

They’d been fighting the good fight for years and would show up at my doorstep overwhelmed, stressed out and wondering how much longer they’ll be able to keep going.

Some were trying to unplug from this failed system, by growing more of their own food, reducing their carbon footprint, changing their buying habits, or by homeschooling their kids.

Some were engaged in community groups and activist organizations working for various types of justice. From anti-poverty work to community gardens to stopping pipelines to creating community birthing centres and everything in between.

The kinds of work they did varied but they all had something in common. They, sometimes secretly, carried a mix of sadness, fear, anger and, often, deep hopelessness at the state of the worldwoman being arrested.

It can be so painful to carry all grief that comes with this awareness.  So it’s easy to see how the enormity of the struggle was wearing them down. Their spark sputtered, their passions dimmed and their health, their energy, and their relationships were paying the price.

It’s a heartbreaking position to be in: to want to give so much and yet to know that you need support too.  How do you do both?

Too often people put the “cause” ahead of their own needs (kids, work, event, etc). They rationalized their overwork by saying “I’ll rest when the [IMPORTANT THING] is over” or “I’ll take care of this health issue when I have time.”  I know because I have done the same thing.

But this pushing through attitude almost always lead to symptoms getting worse, more stress, more anxiety, and to more time away from the things they really care about.

We have a long, challenging road ahead. We need all the bodies and hearts we can get to bring humanity back into balance with rest of the living world.

And that means that we need YOU to be well, so that you can stay engaged and active.

Who is this class best for?

After years of being around activists and organizer (and being one myself).  I want to highly recommend this kind of class if:

About your  instructor:

garliq with violetHi there, my name is garliq.   I’m a radical, activist and organizer who is passionate about social and environmental justice.  My heart aches to see an end to the violence and devastation rampant in the world today.  I dream of a world that is beautiful, healthy, vibrant and just, where humans live in harmony (not dominance) with Nature and one another.

It was my experience with burnout that lead me to studying healing with herbs and empathy.  And today, I run my own herb school where I’ve taught hundreds of people how to empower themselves with local herbs.  With this class, I’m branching out so that this knowledge can be accessible to more people.

I believe that if we have any chance of changing things for the better, any chance of stopping the juggernaut of the dominant, power-over, consumption-based culture, then we have to root ourselves and our resistance movements in compassion and connection to the healing and wisdom of the Earth.

For me, that means plant medicines, deep nature connection and emotional processing have to play a crucial role.  And I’d love to show you why and how this can be done.

Too busy to attend live classes?  No problem, go at your own pace, if you want …

A lot of people are busy these days, I understand.

I also understand that busy folks need lots of self care.  The more you have on your plate, the more support you need.

So, I’ve made the Core Class flexible to fit into even your busy schedule.  You can do this class at your own pace.  Just plug in where you can.

There are only 3 live classes and 6 weeks of emailed class content, so that you’ll have time to listen, ask questions on the forum and practice the skills before the next class.  You’ll get the most out of the class if you attend the live Integration Calls, but there’s absolutely no pressure.

But if you do have time to really dig in and make some changes in your life, there’s lots of space and community support.  There’s even the option to join a small mentorship group, when you’re ready to root your healing in a deep way.

Class logistics…

  • There are 7 weekly classes.  The first is the live webinar and the 6  will be sent to you every Monday morning – so you can start your week with a boost to your self care!
  • The two Integration Calls take place on Weds. Oct. 17 & Weds. Nov. 14
  • You’ll receive recordings, notes and but easily do-able assignments each week (optional)
  • Listen to the recording.  (This is important) Ponder it, digest it, maybe even reflect on it and then, if you’d like to, share your thoughts and experiences with the rest of the group.
  • Assignments can be posted to the FB forum AND it’s entirely okay to articulate what sort of feedback you’re looking for including No Feedback Pls.
  • Each class is approximately 90 minutes
  • Healing Wise Group calls run Wednesdays 11am – 1pm pacific from 7  – 9pm pacific time
  • There will be a Facebook Forum for asking questions and sharing stories (if you really dislike FB, I apologize.  I’m not yet able to set up a forum on my website)

You get the 7 weekly classes sent directly to your inbox.  You submit your assignments to the online Facebook forum where you can engage this active resource of like-minded souls.  Great dialogue, interesting discussions and compassionate community will help you deepen your learning enormously.

There are 2 Integration Calls to provide some live connection, a sense of community and to answer questions about how to apply the theories and practices into your life in a practical way.

Call #1:   Wednesday October 17    – 7-9pm Pacific

Call #2:   Wednesday November 14  – 7-9pm Pacific

Plus, I’ll be doing “Office Hours” on the Facebook forum – 1 hour twice each week to offer input, feedback and/or resources.  (usually Mondays and Thursdays)

This Pay What You Feel thing

Most simply, Pay What You Feel means you check in with your heart and arrive at an amount that feels right to you.

I’ve seen people struggle with sliding scales and pay-what-you-want pricing, thinking they have to pay more than feels good, because they want to pay their “fair share.” Let me share a teaching I received from a mentor: you can only give what you’ve been given.

I want you to feel great about the relationship- what you receive from the class, and what you give to sustain me in my giving to you.

What other people charge.

When I’ve researched similar offers, most fell somewhere between $100 and $500. The gift here is that whatever amount feels right in your heart, and where your finances are, that’s great!  I trust that.

What is sustainable for me.

It’s important to me that I’m honest with you, and not pretending me or my business don’t have needs, because we do.

I decided, from the heart, to set the minimum contribution at $47. I want this material to be accessible to everyone.

Food and shelter: If you live in an economy, or are simply in a financial situation, where spending $47 might mean you can’t afford food or keeping a roof over your head, you are invited with an open heart to choose an amount lower than our minimum. If this is your situation, I’m serious about welcoming you.


Option #2 : Healing Wise Group

(higher commitment, more support)

If you learn best by doing and not just listening AND you’re ready to effectively apply the teachings to your own healing and self care practice, then this group could be a good fit for you.  (the application is below)

You get the Core Class, the 7 classes, 2 Integration Calls and the online community.

PLUS, you get access to tonnes of support with this intimate, hands-on, mentoring group so that you can really dig into the material and have it start changing your health right away.  It’s a mix of mentoring and coaching from Garliq AND tonnes of peer-support.  Because you’ll get a lot more out of these practices and teachings when you connect and use them!

The Healing Wise Group is an on-going support, mentorship and healing group designed for folks committed to their own self care and healing AND who understand that we’re stronger together, so we’re also supporting each other on that same journey.

It’s been created to support you exactly where you are in your healing journey.  Because it’s a small group (max. 8 people), it’s intimate and personal AND entirely based on the needs of the group.  That means that the teachings and content of each call are personalized and flexible to the needs of the group.

You may choose to go deeper with integrating the course material, to ask questions about herbs, to practice working with empathy or nature connection, or to ask for the support you need for your self care, in the moment when you’re needing it.

PLUS, you can get the Herbal Starter Kit (optional), a box of assorted herbal remedies that you’ll learn about in the class.  You’ll have the tools you need to immediately start applying herbs to your health and wellness.  You’ll be able to test out different remedies to see which ones work best for you and in which situations.  The goal is for you to find the herbs that you can deeply depend on.

It’s $100 for about $130 worth of remedies.

Healing Wise Group Logistics…

The are two 2 hr calls each month… for each 8 person group.

Because not everyone is available at the same time, there will be an AM group and a PM group.  You choose the one that works best for your schedule.

The AM group calls will be at Wednesdays at 11am pacific time.

The PM group call will be at Wednesdays at 7pm pacific time.
