Would you like to feel safe and confident eating local, wild plants?
Do you want to gather wild edibles and medicinals without needing to become a botany expert?
You're not alone in feeling nervous about eating mysterious plants until you know for sure what they are.
Forage with confidence - for food or medicine.
4 Steps to Avoid Confusion and Overwhelm...
Keep it simple.
There are 8000+ plant species in BC. Easy to be overwhelmed!
Start with what's around you - your yard or close to home. Go step by step as you explore the plant world.
Keep it fun.
With some simple tools, you can really have fun with learning how cool plants are and about how beneficial the plants around you can be.
Trust your senses.
There's so much that can be learned about plants just by taking a close look at the leaves and flowers, the shape and size, the texture, and the location.
When you compare one plant to another in this way, it's easy to begin to see the uniqueness of each plant and start to distinguish one from another.
Focus on 3 features.
Learning just 3 identifying features for a plant is usually enough for you to be able to say "yes, this is such and such," or "no, that's definitely not." You can develop confidence without needing to remember everything about the plant.
If this resonates with you, I invite you to join me for these herb walks:
