First Ever Book Review
Backyard Medicine - Harvest and Make Your Own Herbal Remediesby: Julie Bruton-Seal & Matthew SealThe beautiful book offers full-coloured pictures of the 50 focus plants. It is an accessible read, which offers plant history, anecdotes and uses of each plant. It demystifies harvesting and remedy-making by leading the reader through the the simple processes of making teas, glycerites, electuaries, ghees, tinctures, pillows, wines and oils depending on the plant. The quick-refence side bars summarize the parts of a given plant and relates them to their specific uses. While the odd plant might not be as easy to find here on the West Coast as in Great Britain where the book was written, most of these plants are abundantly available abundantly locally. Happy medicine making!
